This is a US Army Marksman Qualification Badge. The badge is a white metal (silver, nickel, or rhodium) cross pattée, 1 inch in height. It is awarded to personnel upon successful completion of a weapons qualification course. The badge has qualification bars (not pictured) that indicate the specific weapons the soldier has qualified with. The design, established in 1921, is officially described as a "cross patee" and is distinct from the German Iron Cross.
