FINE VIKING PROTECTIVE ARMOR BROOCH NECKLACE, 10th-11th CENTURY

Description

10th-11th Century AD. Gilt bronze, over 7/8 inch (0.95”) diameter. Rounded front and flat back forming a ridged edge. Worn from use and textured from burial, obscuring the detail. Worn in numbers, these were decorative as well as serving as a measure of protection from sword blows. See multiple images for a similar brooch with a sword cut shown for reference only. Professionally refurbished with a pure silver overlay on an 18” modern sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
