Jimmy Spencer (born February 15, 1957) is an American former professional stock car racing driver, team owner, and television commentator, renowned in NASCAR circles as "Mr. Excitement" for his aggressive and entertaining driving style.
Born in Berwick, Pennsylvania, Spencer began his racing career in 1978 at Port Royal Speedway, where he earned Rookie of the Year honors in the Late Model division. In 1979, he transitioned to NASCAR Modified racing at Shangri-La Speedway, securing another Rookie of the Year award and quickly rising to prominence.
Spencer entered NASCAR's national series in the late 1980s, competing in the Busch Series (now Xfinity Series) from 1988 to 1989 with 52 starts, three victories, nine top-five finishes, and 24 top-10 results. He advanced to the Winston Cup Series (now Cup Series) as a full-time driver starting in 1990, accumulating 478 starts over his career, which concluded with his final race in 2006.
