This elegant tall-form vase features finely hand-painted figural court scenes depicting aristocratic nobles and attendants in traditional Heian period dress. The surface is richly embellished with heavy raised gilt (moriage) decoration, intricate brocade paneling, and delicate enamel accents throughout.

The creamy ivory ground displays the characteristic fine Satsuma crackle glaze, providing beautiful depth and warmth. Detailed facial expressions, layered robes, and ceremonial parasol imagery reflect the export artistry produced for Western collectors during Japan's opening to international trade at the turn of the 20th century.
