Alvin Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Overlay Perfume Bottle, c.1900 (3.25 In.)

Description

An elegant American Art Nouveau sterling silver overlay perfume bottle by the Alvin Manufacturing Company of Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1900–1910. The rounded scent bottle form is decorated with finely hand-engraved flowing botanical motifs in sterling silver overlay over a blown glass body, a classic luxury dressing table accessory of the Edwardian era.

The underside is marked "STERLING 310," identifying the Alvin pattern number. The bottle measures approximately 3.25 inches high with the stopper in place, a true dresser or vanity size piece suitable for a tray, nightstand, or bath shelf display.

The original stopper is present; the inner ground-glass tip has loss consistent with age but the stopper displays properly and seats in the neck. The silver retains a desirable antique patina and the bottle presents beautifully.
