Matvei Borisovich Kogan-Shats was a Soviet Ukrainian painter and a master of landscape painting. He was a member of the Artists' Union of the USSR. Matvei Borisovich Kogan-Shats was born in Mohyliv-Podilskyi, Vinnytsia Oblast. He graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute in 1939, studying under P. Volokidin and A. Shovkunenko. He lived and worked in Kyiv.
Starting from 1939, he actively participated in various exhibitions, including international ones in Italy, France, Yugoslavia (1968), Japan (1970), and others. His works are featured in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, as well as in art museums in Poltava, Mykolaiv, and Berdyansk, and the Alupka Palace-Museum.
The paintings of the artist are highly sought after in the art markets of Ukraine and other CIS countries.
