Title: Acrylic painting Pink sunset behind the mountains Mykhailo Patskan Description: NoAAA4903The acrylic painting on cardboard titled "Pink Sunset Behind the Mountains" captures the quiet grandeur and emotive resonance of nature during its most ephemeral and magical moment-the waning light of day slipping behind snow-covered peaks. Through expressive brushwork and bold color choices, this piece transcends a literal landscape to evoke a dreamlike interpretation of a winter evening when the sky catches fire and the mountains fall into shadowed silence. Dominating the upper half of the composition is the sky, ablaze in tones of vivid pink, rose, crimson, and golden yellow. These sunset hues, applied with loose yet purposeful strokes, sweep across the canvas like flames licking the edges of the atmosphere. The warm glow seems to melt into the cold air, casting a surreal and poetic light over the snowy landscape. The artist's confident use of saturated color draws the viewer's eye upward and imbues the painting with an emotional energy-a blend of calm, wonder, and quiet awe. Beneath this fiery sky, the mountains rise in layered formation, cloaked in deep purples, icy blues, and shadowy indigo. The strokes curve and sweep to emphasize the gentle slope and majesty of the peaks, while the juxtaposition of dark tones against the luminous sky enhances the dramatic effect of twilight descending. The snow, rendered in cooler lavender and white shades, softens the rugged terrain and reflects the fading light, suggesting a land caught between day and night, warmth and cold. At the base of the mountains, nestled quietly among forest shadows, lies a small, snow-covered village. The homes are simply rendered with minimal details, yet their presence adds a deeply human element to the vast, untamed landscape. Painted in muted whites and dark accents, the village offers a contrast of scale, warmth, and intimacy. It serves as a place of rest, reflection, and protection-anchoring the viewer in the scene and offering a sense of belonging within the immensity of nature. The forest surrounding the village is composed of deep crimson and blue hues, suggesting fir trees dipped in the final blush of sunlight. These trees, though abstracted in form, create a frame around the center of the composition, further emphasizing the soft glow cast by the retreating sun. The use of darker shades here reinforces the idea of encroaching night and adds a meditative, introspective quality to the piece.
