RARE VIKING WEDDING RING 866-1067 AD, SIZE 7 1/4

Description

9th-11th century, Cambridgeshire England. Bronze, with a low rounded face and of 2.9mm width. Made with a central core to distribute the molten metal and heat. The core was then laboriously removed by hand with the remnants still visible. Wonderful primitive character. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom's sword. Professionally refurbished with the pure silver surface restored. See the reference image which shows the process. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
