As a printmaker, Stephanie E. Pogue is known for her mastery of color viscosity etching, a technique first developed in Stanley Hayter's studio, Atelier 17. She also worked with Aaron Douglas, reprinting many of his earlier prints, including The Junkman and Emperor Jones. Pogue earned her BA from Howard University in 1966 and her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, MI. Her work has been exhibited at Fisk University, the David C. Driskell Center at the University of Maryland, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Spelman College and Howard University.
