Description
The glaze on the heavy jar has a nice crackle and is very soft and unctuous to the touch. The cobalt used is a nice dark black blue. There is good shading and good line rendering in the paintings. The lid is original to the jar. The lid has a round finial with a cobalt painting of a peony and also has crackle in the glaze. The edge of the underside of the lid is unglazed.
The foot ring is unglazed, rounded and cut. The unglazed paste is worn with a soft feel. There is a four- character Kangxi mark in cobalt in the center of the base.
