
Description
A very important early 18th century fluted circular montieth bowl with removable rim. The bowl has a double cartouche (armorial & crest) with lion mask drop ring handles for decoration. The bowl sits on a raised pedestal circular foot. The rim of the bowl is decorated with cherubs with splashing of floral engraving on matt a background.

Condition: Excellent throughout. Rim fully hallmarked. Apprenticed to William Browne Citizen and Haberdasher of London 26 May 1665. Free of the Haberdashers Company 7 June 1672. Mark entered as large worker undated probably on commencement of register April 1697. Signatory to the petition to the Goldsmiths Company against marking of foreigners work and extending the freedom to several Frenchmen 1 October 1703. Described as ‘Capt. Isaac Dighton goldsmiths’ in the register of his burial 28th February 1707.
