Description
An architectural vintage Carvers' Guild "Quatrain" mirror, produced in 1990 in West Groton, Massachusetts. This example retains its original manufacturer label noting the Italian gold leaf finish and plain mirror plate.
The Quatrain design is defined by disciplined geometry "” four structured corner blocks connected by linear crossbars, creating depth and shadow without excessive ornament. It reads architectural rather than decorative, making it equally at home in neoclassical, transitional, or tailored modern interiors.
The Italian gold leaf finish has mellowed beautifully over time, offering warmth and subtle patina that newer production pieces often lack. The mirror plate is plain (non-beveled), maintaining the clean, structured look intended in the original design.
The Quatrain remains in production today through select retailers, with current examples offered new around $1,695, making this early production piece a compelling opportunity at a more favorable price point.
