Set of Fourteen Hand-painted Sèvres Porcelain Dinner Plates. The Manufacture de Sèvres, in Sèvres, France, was established in the 18th century, and became one of Europe's most prestigious porcelain factories, producing luxury wares for aristocratic tables and diplomatic gifts. Each plate is decorated with delicate polychrome floral bouquets with trimmed with rich cobalt blue enamel accented with gilded scrollwork. The scalloped rims lend a soft movement to the silhouette, while the balanced composition of florals (roses, pansies, and wild blossoms) demonstrate the refined artistry synonymous with Sèvres porcelain. The reverse of each plate bears the traditional interlaced double "L" Sèvres mark, along with individual artists letters, indicating authentic manufacture and the hand of specific decorators, such as Charles Tandart, François Baudouin, and presumably Louis F. Lècote or Denis Levè. The double "L" mark was originally introduced by Louis XV.
