Large vintage lucite (acrylic) scientific/educational display featuring multiple clear tubes filled with assorted seeds/grains and a top inset window displaying preserved butterflies. When the inset is removed, more lucite trays with assorted natural history items (including a seahorse, beetle, feathers, shell/fossil-like specimens)are stored. Also included is a handwritten Russian catalog notebook with item lists and English translations noted in parentheses (e.g., "vanilla bean," "tonka bean," "ginger root," etc.), plus dated notes visible in the pages shown. A striking "cabinet of curiosities" object for a library, studio, or conversation-piece interior.
Estate condition with visible surface wear: lucite haze/scratches/scuffs, dust/residue, and age-related wear to components; some tubes appear partially filled/empty. Contents and arrangement sold exactly as shown. Missing a foot on the bottom as well as two finials. Some of the mother of pearl discs on the top are cracked.
