This large-scale porcelain figure represents a toy spaniel of King Charles or Pekingese type, modeled with pronounced sculptural emphasis rather than strict zoological accuracy. Executed in the Dresden tradition, the figure displays a compact, muscular stance and a dramatic, lion-like mane, features favored in late 19th- and early 20th-century Continental decorative sculpture. The surface is finished in a luminous white glaze with finely hand-painted gray-black striations articulating the texture of the coat, ears, and tail.

The expressive facial modeling, stippled muzzle, and deeply undercut forms reflect the high level of craftsmanship associated with Dresden porcelain workshops during this period, which specialized in richly detailed animal figures for aristocratic and grand domestic interiors.
