Curtis began publishing the *Botanical Magazine: Plants of the Royal Gardens* at Lovell Reeve in London in 1856. He started creating botanical illustrations in 1787 and continued this work almost without interruption for 160 years. The plates are renowned for their fine detail and delicate hand coloring, reflecting a time when detailed botanical illustrations were often the only way to record and understand the vast diversity of plant life.

Top Left: Rhynchostele cervantesii"¨This epiphytic orchid, also known as Odontoglossum membranaceum, is native to Mexico.

Top Right: Pelargonium (Geranium)"¨Specifically, this appears to be an illustration of a Pelargonium variety, such as Pelargonium cordifolium (Heart-Leaved Geranium) or a similar hybrid.

Bottom Left: Weigela amabilis"¨Also known as Weigela rosea or "Rose-coloured Weigela," this deciduous shrub is native to China. The print depicts its vibrant pink, trumpet-shaped flowers and pointed green leaves.
