Description
A stunning pair of vintage table lamps by the celebrated Paul Hanson Company, circa 1970s. These lamps feature a rare and highly detailed Chinoiserie relief design in a crisp ivory blanc-de-chine finish. The wrap-around sculptural scenes depict traditional pagodas, figures, and lush palm trees, all finished in a subtle crackle glaze that adds beautiful vintage character.
Each lamp is anchored by a weighted solid brass rectangular base and topped with charming white ceramic bird finials. Known for their superior craftsmanship, Paul Hanson pieces were staples in high-end mid-century and Regency-style homes. These "statement" lamps offer a perfect blend of classic Orientalism and 1970s Hollywood Regency flair.
Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: Overall Condition: Excellent Vintage Condition
Structural Integrity: Sturdy and sound; brass bases are weighted and sit flush.
"• Ceramic Body: The Blanc de Chine porcelain is in exceptional shape with no chips, cracks, or structural repairs. The fine "crackle" glaze is intentional and uniform across both lamps, typical of Paul Hanson's high-end 1970s production.
"• Brass Bases: The solid brass rectangular bases show a light, age-appropriate patina. There are minor surface scuffs consistent with vintage lamps of this era, which could be polished to a high shine or left as-is for a more "found" antique look.
"• Hardware & Finials: Both original ceramic bird finials are present and intact (a rare find). The brass harps and sockets are secure.
"• Original Shades: Included. The shades are structurally sound with no major denting. There is [insert here: "minor faint spotting" or "light dusting"] consistent with age, but they remain highly presentable and functional.
"• Wiring: Original wiring is in good working condition. As with all vintage lighting, we recommend having the lamps inspected by a professional prior to use.
"• Original Shades: The included shades are a classic flared rectangular shape that perfectly fits the lamp's proportions. When illuminated, the fabric shows a clean, even glow without major staining or structural warping.
"• Wiring: The lamps are shown in working order. The cords appear to be the original brown vintage wiring.
