Bright midnight blue ground with anexotic dancer in a wispy green veil dancing in the mists. Beautiful Art Deco decorative panel with a surface of hammered gesso and painted in an intense layer of pigments in encaustic, giving the painted surface an inner glossy, strong color of deep blue.
The jewelry is applied with tiny textured beads over the surface, and the background is a hammered, swirling surface. Signed S M LaGile 1921. Painted on a wooden panel with an attached panel identifying the art as a Leon Bakst design for the ballet "La Peri"
