First German edition of the rare, magnificently illustrated horse book with parallel German-French text.
The beautiful copperplate engravings depict various horse breeds, training, numerous figures and the rider's proper seat, breeding, herd behavior, stirrups, saddles, mouthpieces, and much more.
Three plates feature magnificent depictions of the author on horseback, surrounded by elaborate figures and baroque allegories.
The preface states that one can discern from them not only the form of the horse in all schools, but also the natural and also the artificial movements and gestures of horses as desired.

A few small tears to illustrations (copperplate title slightly larger).
Overall well preserved.
