First edition of Zwinger's revised editions of Mattioli's herbal book.
Zwinger used B. Verzascha's edition, but placed particular emphasis on the medically important section.
- Like almost all herbal books, this one in particular is rich in culturally and historically important information; it contains a great deal about stimulants and their uses. There are sections on coffee, chocolate, tea, etc., and at the end there is a long treatise on tobacco and smoking (A. Schmid, Kräuterbücher, p. 60 f.).
- Without copperplate title and the 26 index pages.
Original leather, worn, spine damaged, covers are holding on cords.
Some are slightly stained, a few leaves are loose, some toning
