
A group of eleven silver gelatin press prints depicting pavilions and attractions at the New York World's Fair, 1939, each measuring approx. 21 x 26cm, most with typed captions or handwritten annotations verso, including three views with Underwood & Underwood credits in the negative, and their copyright stamp verso. Subjects include the Florida Pavilion; the "largest portrait statue fashioned by mankind in modern times" honoring George Washington; two views of the Turkish Pavilion; a portrait of Dr. W.D. Coolidge (director of General Electric's research laboratory) with Grover Whalen and Gerard Swope (president of General Electric); the Italian Pavilion; and the Playground of Science (featuring a crowd waiting to play with 'Nim', the one-ton electrical 'brain' dubbed Nimatron); among others.
