European Interest 1870s-1900s

A large collection of mixed albumen prints and early silver gelatin prints, image size 8 x 5.5cm (smallest) to 28 x 23cm (largest), most pasted down recto/verso to album page, overall measuring 31.5 x 28cm, some captioned and numbered in the negative, comprising images of European cities and landmarks. Subjects include Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe, Opera Garnier, Boulevard de la Madeleine, Paris; panoramic views of Nice and Cannes; the Colosseum, and the Roman Forum, Castle and Bridge of S. Angelo, Rome; various images of Florence, such as Loggia Lanzi, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio; panoramic views of Capri; Royal Palace, and the Royal Court of Justice, Bruxelles, by L.P. phot. Other prints depict views of Seville; Monaco; Menton; Montecarlo; among others. Including a group of prints depicting ancient and Renaissance sculptures and artworks, such as a bust of Demosthenes; a statue of Emperor Augustus; the pulpit of the Cathedral of Amalfi; and the ancient Greek sculpture of Hermes and the Infant Dionysus, among others.
