VICTORIAN ROYALTY & MILITARY INTEREST] W & D Downey [studio active 1860s to 1910s] Two Volumes of The Cabinet Portrait Gallery published by Cassell & Company.

One volume (volume number unknow) marked "First Series" and dated 1890, With 36 mounted Cabinet size portraits, each with an accompanying biography of the sitter. Features Victorian royalty, military figures, plus the great and the good of society. Including Colonel Maurice, Professor Huxley, The Countess of Dudley etc. Hardback, with front board detached. Spine poor with heavy foxing to several pages.

The second volume (un-numbered) with 48 guilt-edged pages 7 1/2”x 9 1/2" plus 30 mounted cabinet card photographs. Featuring royalty, lawyers, actors etc. Overall in good condition with some foxing in places.
