
Description
Mitchell, Fred (American, 1923-2013), Untitled Abstract, c.1950s, ink on paper, initialed lower right, 7.5 x 8.75 inches, matted and framed 13.5 x 14.5 inches. Provenance: acquired from Howard Weiss Gallery of Cleveland, Ohio. Mitchell was an important figure in the American modernist scene, and was in Pittsburgh from 1942-1943 where he attended the Carnegie Institute of Technology (now CMU). There he met and became friends with painter Philip Pearlstein.
Condition
