This wonderful cotton circus animal crib quilt, all hand appliqued and and hand quilted, with hand embroidered accents, the name "Jane Cook English" and the date "September 8, 1944" in hand appliqued letters and numbers in the background.
It measures 48" X 58" and is in very good condition, with the occasional light spot and one 2" X 1/2" tear at the top of the quilt.
There are straight line and diamond designs quilted throughout at 6 stitches to the inch.
The back and hand stitched binding are the same off-white polished cotton used in the background, and the batting is thin. The name "Myrtle English" (probably the maker) is hand embroidered on the back. The quilt came out of Bedford County, Pennsylvania.
The UNUSUAL APPLIQUED LETTERS and NUMBERS and FOLKY ANIMALS make this vintage COLLECTOR'S QUILT stand out!
