Description

7th-11th Century AD. Gilt bronze, size 8 ¼+ with oval-shaped bezel with the random incised pattern, perhaps astrological. Either decorative or to serve as a signet. Rounded face band 2.1mm at the bottom flaring slightly to the shoulders. Dating to the period of artistic reversal known as the Dark Ages, after the fall of Rome. It is the period of the spread of Christianity and pilgrimages to the Holy Land before the Crusades. This example is professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Good wearable size with certificate of authenticity.
