Title: Oil painting To the other side Oksana Kalenyuk Description: NoAAA4731The oil painting on cardboard titled "To the Other Side" captures a tranquil and nostalgic rural scene, where nature and human presence harmoniously coexist. Through rich, expressive brushstrokes and a vibrant palette, the artist creates a dynamic composition that conveys movement, depth, and emotion. At the center of the painting, a rustic wooden bridge extends over a calm body of water, leading toward an open landscape bathed in lush greens and blues. The texture of the bridge, rendered with thick, impasto strokes, gives it a tactile quality, almost as if the viewer could feel the roughness of the weathered wood beneath their feet. The bridge serves as a symbolic passageway, a transition from one side of the river to the other, embodying the themes of journey and connection. Two figures, dressed in traditional clothing, walk along the bridge. Their garments, in bold red and deep blue, stand out against the surrounding greenery, drawing the viewer's attention to their quiet movement. Their postures suggest a leisurely pace, perhaps an intimate conversation or a shared moment of reflection as they make their way across. The artist intentionally leaves their faces indistinct, allowing the viewer to imagine their identities and the nature of their journey. The landscape beyond the bridge unfolds in layers of rolling hills, trees, and a distant village with small white houses and thatched roofs. The soft, muted tones of the village contrast with the intensity of the foreground, creating a sense of depth and perspective. The trees, painted in expressive strokes of green and blue, sway gently in the breeze, adding to the painting's overall sense of serenity and movement. Above, the sky is a masterpiece in itself, a swirling canvas of blues, whites, and hints of lavender. Billowing clouds stretch across the expanse, their forms created with heavy, deliberate strokes that mimic the natural fluidity of the sky. The play of light and shadow within the clouds suggests a changing time of day-perhaps late morning or early afternoon-when the sun casts a golden glow upon the landscape, illuminating its textures and details.
