SINGLE SHOT CARBINE. Cal. 45-70. S# 123192. Bbl. 22". Barrel is unmarked. Carbine is assembled using a shortened rifle stock. Model 1873 rear sight graduated to 1,500 yards. Sight is marked on left side with "C". Blade front sight. Breech block marked "U.S. / MODEL / 1873". Lock has the three click tumbler. Lockplate retains its spread wing "eagle" and "US / SPRINGFIELD" markings. Long comb walnut stock. Stock has been fitted with the saddle ring and bar of the cavalry carbine. Ramrod channel in the reshaped stock tip has not been filled. Stock is unmarked. Forend is retained by the single band. CONDITION: stock has a professional refinish with light wear and scattered tiny handling marks. Small crack between the left side of the receiver and the base of the saddle bar. Tiny crack at rear of lockplate. Metal has been heavily polished and retains 95% of its arsenal rework blue. Bore has visible rifling, but with frosting and light pitting throughout. (01-28768/RW).
