Born in Chicago in 1946, Sloan became a mother in the 1970s. Feeling the claustrophobia of young motherhood, she began to paint all of the objects in her kitchen from cereal boxes to the the chrome toaster on her kitchen counter. Sloan’s work can now be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, and more. She produced "Espresso Cups" in 1996, a 6-color lithograph. Measuring 22 x 22 inches, this unframed work is AP 6/6. The image highlights reflective surfaces and patterned light.
