Art Nouveau Mythical Mermaid/Mermen Buckle, late 1800's to early 1900's, 3". This is made up of two round sections of the belt, one with the hook and one with the loop to hook the clasp. Scrolleddesigns around the circle with the mythical merman or mermaid - it has a fish body with coiled tail with what looks lilke hair flowing down the back of the head but does not really look male or female, wive like accent clost to the face that wraps around the lower front of the body. When connected, it is appx. 3-1/8" wide and 1.75" tall. The look of oxidized stering but is a silver pressed metal. The loops that hold the belt would house 1.5". Not signed by the maker.
