A Chinese export gilt-lacquered games box, 19th century,

of rectangular form, painted in gilt with an stylised oval cartouche featuring figures in a garden setting, against a diapered ground, the interior with five lidded compartments and two trays, similarly decorated, accompanied by a collection of mother-of-pearl gaming counters

35.5cm wide, 28.5cm deep, 12cm high

Condition Report:

The gilt rubbed due to age and use in areas. The underside of the cover with a few splits present. A gaming counter with a chip to the rim, some slightly discoloured.
