
Description
Per Hughes: Gladys Louise Bowman Fies was a watercolorist, art teacher. Born in Kirkland, Texas on December 23, 1909. During the 1930s, Gladys married William John Fies.
After many years in Dallas, the couple later moved to northern California.
She was a pupil of Ralph Ledesma, Jade Fon, Millard Sheets, Rex Brandt, and George Post. She often gave workshops to senior centers around her home in San Mateo. She died in San Carlos, CA on December 17, 2005.
Missions were a favorite subject matter as well as floral still lifes.
