This mask is very close to the one illustrated in Ubangi, pages 62 and 63
Presented as one of the most striking masks of Northern Congo, attributed according to sources to the Ngbaka, Ngbandi or Mbanza
The legend (page 218) of the sketch made on page 219 places its origin north of the Mongala River (the question of its origin remains open)
The Ngbaka or Bwaka live in the north of the Congo, in the Ubangi area (or Ubangi)
They are the neighbors of the Ngbandi, the Ngombe and the Ngata
