Sir Peyton Ventris (1645 – 1691) entered the Middle Temple in 1664 and was called to the bar in 1671.
He rose to prominence after the Revolution of 1688, becoming serjeant-at-law, justice of the Court of Common Pleas, and rising to a knighthood in 1689.
Ventris' compilation of reports, covering cases from 1668-1691, has generally been considered to be of good authority with but few of the cases censured.
They endure as among the most important written during the Restoration.==========
