Description
CLASSIC SOVIET COLD WAR PROPAGANDA POSTER. Comprising a 1988 Leninist propaganda poster depicting a young Lenin with a proud student in the foreground, text reading, "Live by Lenin's Ideas and Grow Up as a Communist, To Bring New Glory to the Country!" In 1988, as the USSR was experiencing political reform, economic crisis, rising nationalism, and natural disasters, posters like these would have been an effort to keep the Communist Party strong by recruiting young people. Artist V. Sachov, 1988. Poster size 26.5 x 18.5 inches (67.3 x 47.0cm), overall including attractive exhibition frame glazed with plexiglass, 29.25 x 21 inches (74.3 x 53.3cm). Ironically, only a mere three years after this poster was printed, the Soviet Union collapsed.
