Bruno Gambone (Italian, 1936-2021). From the "Animali Fantastici" Series: Two Stoneware Kitty Cats," Early 1970's, RARE VINTAGE 70s BRUNO GAMBONE ANIMALI FANTASTICI SIGNED MODERNIST SCULPTURE. This is a beautiful stoneware sculpture by esteemed artist Bruno Gambone. Part of his famous "Animali Fantastici" series, created in the 70s after Gambone returned to ceramics following his mentor father's death. Signed "Gambone"Excellent condition with no damage on one cat, and as shown, 2 tips have been broken off the second cat. Curved and modelled with wedge-shaped body and round head. Body is covered in his signature speckled matte cream glaze, each signed "GAMBONE". A collective piece.
Both cats are in wonderful condition with one exception. One of the kitties has chipped pieces from decades ago. Doesn't take away from the original design.
