A Belle Époque jewel box crowned with the Arc de Triomphe.

A luminous antique French glass jewel casket featuring a hand-tinted Belle Époque view of the Arc de Triomphe. Made around 1900, this miniature vitrine combines Parisian souvenir art with exquisite craftsmanship: beveled glass panels, gilt brass filigree, and the original tufted silk cushion, a beautiful pale pink coral.

The lid displays a richly colored scene beneath the thick glass, showing the Arc rising over the Place de l'Étoile with carriages and promenading figures below. behind it is a beautiful sunset with vibrant blue going into a rich pink horizon. The brass frame is hand-soldered with ornate corner mounts and rests on four cabriole legs, giving the box the look of a tiny treasure chest.

This casket was sold in the grand boutiques of Paris's monuments and during the Expositions Universelles, offered as keepsakes of the city's most celebrated architecture. Examples with intact interiors and such crisp imagery are increasingly rare.
