Massive Japanese Meiji Bronze Vase by Sencho Ku Circa 1900

Description

Beautiful and Massive Bronze vase by Sencho Ku, Japanese ( 1868-1912). Beautifully made with a large oval body, egg-shaped form flanked by Greek Key style fretwork. The flanks carry a dangle ring with more Greek key borders, and on the foot of the vase as well. Natural dark bronze patina with deep oxblood lacquer. The studio mark is cast into the base in high relief. The vase bears a paper label of the Gallery of Michael Goedhuis. Measurements are 21" tall by 18" wide at the arms, and the shoulders are 11.5" in diameter. Great looking as a large vase on the floor or as seen on a pedestal.
