
Description
Early 19th C. Mahogany case. Made in Boston. Brass eagle finial. Painted metal dial, probably original. Reverse painted panel on throat with eagle and urn design. Flanked by mahogany spandrels. Bottom section has reverse painted tablet depicting the battle between the USS CONSTITUTION and the British warship HMS GUERRIERE. This is celebrating a great victory for the American Navy. Key, pendulum and weight are present. 32" high with finial x 10 1/2" wide x 3 3/4" deep. Comes with a bill of sale dated March 19, 1963 for $290.
Provenance: From the estate of Alfred J. Walker, legendary art dealer and collector. Founder of Walker-Cunningham Fine Art. Good condition, but not guaranteed to work. Finial probably a later replacement.
