This 16th century treatise examines the institution of marriage and its societal implications, including concepts like dowry, paternity, adultery, inheritance, marital law and legal remedies, and also discussions about the Guelphs and Ghibellines, political factions in medieval Italy, and the authority of princes.

Giovanni Nevizzano was a 16th- century Italian jurist , born in Asti and died in 1540.
He studied jurisprudence at Padua and Turin , where he later taught. He is the author of the first attempt at a legal bibliography , entitled Index scriptorum in utroque jure ( Lyons , 1522), continued by Gomez, Fichard, Ziletti, and Freymon;
Sylvae nuptialis , a book in which the rational and the extravagant alternate;
Consilia ( Lyons , 1559). Additiones ad Rolandinum . Quasteio de librorum multitudine resecanda . Controversiae feudales , etc.
