FINE ANCIENT VIKING HEART PENDANT NECKLACE, C.900 AD

Description

Good example of the fully evolved form. Deeply modeled with rounded edges and contoured back made by the lost wax technique. The cusped top heart indicative of a full transition from the naturalistic form which was used widely as well. Broad border enclosing and forming a trefoil, an iconic Viking symbol. Just over 5/8" height plus the suspension loop. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Worn from use and textured from burial. Professionally refurbished with the pure silver restored, on a Sterling silver neck chain. Jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
