Marc Chagall (1887-1985), a Russian, was one of the most successful artists of the 20th century. He was the director of the art Academy & art Director of the Moscow Jewish State Theatre. Moved to France in 1923, lived in the USA from 1941 to 1948. He was an early modernist. He loved mythological floating figures in full colour. Chagall created works in virtually every artistic medium, including painting, fine art prints, book illustrations, stained glass, ceramics and tapestries; his artwork is in many Museums across the world.
