Description: The Illustrated Map of London and Suburbs'. An attractive folding pictorial map of London and the surrounding area from Windsor to Gravesend and Hemel Hempstead south to Epsom, in original wash and outline colour marking the county boundaries. The map is richly decorated with vignette views of “all the most remarkable places”, including numerous historic houses, racecourses, and notable buildings—among them the Crystal Palace, shown shortly after its relocation to Sydenham. In the original blue board covers. Hyde 40(2). First published as a supplement to the Illustrated London News in 1855, this is the first separately published edition, issued either flat or folded, as here. by Dower, John. Published c1857. Folding pictorial linen-backed map, in original blue board wrapper. Size 57 x 79 cm | 22.0 x 31.0 inches. Condition: Good; suitable for framing. Tight margins, as issued. See scan.
