Translating literally to "wind wall," are traditional Japanese folding screens consisting of multiple panels covered in paper or silk, often adorned with paintings and calligraphy. Originally introduced from China in the 8th century, these screens were used to divide interior spaces, provide privacy, and block drafts. They are prized as both functional room dividers and artistic, decorative interior items, often showcasing themes of nature, landscapes, or classical literature.
