
Description
This a very beautiful set of cup and saucer, made by Noritake in 175 often referred to as the “Christmas Ball” pattern.
This is the longest running pattern ever made by Noritake, "175" has a unique production story lasting nearly 90 years.
The pattern became an instant success when Noritake released the first pieces in 1906. Its beautiful design features an elegant scrolling pattern with flowers in a ball or bulb form. The early pieces were hand painted with 24K gold enameling which gave the design a rich look and feel. Early productions were marked “Hand Painted Noritake Japan,” in green or gold, indicating the patterns were made between 1906 – 1940.
The cup is properly marked with Noritake backstamp. The cup has a green mark that dates is in 1920, the saucer is unmarked.
The set includes:
1 (one) Coffee/Tea cup - 3 5/8" in diameter at the rim and 3" tall
1 (one) Saucer for the cup - 5 1/2" in diameter
The set will make a wonderful gift or will be a great addition to any vintage collection.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing - please refer to the pictures or ask questions.
