Advertisement written by Stanley Lane-Poole dated 1882, stating that this book is "an exact reproduction of that edited by my father, with my great-uncle's final corrections, and published by Mr. John Murray in 1859.
There are many very detailed, well drawn illustrations throughout the book.
No publication date is listed but it is around 1914 or a bit later since the Introduction is dated 1914.
727 pages, green boards, sunned and faded on covers, spine looks brown. Green cloth boards. There is a hinge crack after first two free front end papers, but binding is otherwise intact, no missing pages, no writing in book. Top page edges gilt. Bottom page edges have discoloration, but no ink or pencil markings outside or inside book, not musty. Corners lightly rubbed, top corner bottom cover more heavily rubbed and turned in. Book in good/very good condition considering age of book.
