The Fountain, Aiken South Carolina, 11" x 14" image sight size (framed size: 18-1/2" x 22") signed in the grass lower left: Louise Yancey and titled underneath: "The Fountain" Aiken, S.C. On the back it appears that it was purchased in the 70's by the OCF Aiken Plant Purchasing Dept. and given as a gift. Condition: The painting is slipping in the frame and could be readjusted by a framer when the mat is replaced. The mat has a water stain at the bottom left, a few frame nicks and some stains on the back paper which do not affect the front. Note: The picture of the painting in frame shows a white streak line at bottom area which was sun glare. There is no streak in the bottom area. This painting features an iconic fountain at the intersection of Laurens St. and Park Ave. in Aiken. It's named after a former mayor of the town. The painting has historic significance. Louise Yancey Streed was mainly a Georgia artist and there is a book entitled Savannah - Her History as seen by the artist, Louise Yancey Streed with examples of the artist's work and her biographical information in the book.
