Albert William Stevens (1886–1949) was a U.S. Army Air Corps officer, balloonist, and aerial photographer best known for his record-breaking high-altitude balloon flights in the 1930s. In 1935, Stevens and Captain Orvil Anderson reached an altitude of over 72,000 feet in the balloon Explorer II, capturing some of the first photographs showing the curvature of the Earth. His pioneering work at Wright Field helped advance both military reconnaissance and scientific exploration.
