ABOUT THE ARTIST: Kobylenkov Mykhailo Vasylovich – was born on 21st September, 1922 in the Akhmat village, Russia. Landscape painter, master of still life and genre painting. Member of the World War II, fighter pilot, fought on the 1st Belorussian Front. He was awarded the medals of the Red Star, World War II, and others. In 1952 he graduated from the Kharkiv Art Institute. Mentors: V. Yatsenko and A. Kokel, later - Y. Bokshay. In 1952, the artist was awarded the Prize of the Union of Artists of the USSR for his series of works: Illustrations for Vyacheslav Shishkov’s novel “Emelyan Pugachev”. Since 1953 he has taken part in exhibitions. From 1952 to 1963 - Director of the Uzhgorod Art Gallery. In 1956, together with Transcarpathian artists, he participated in an exhibition held at the State Tretyakov Gallery. Since 1958, Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Since 1963, the artist lived and worked in Sevastopol. In 1967-1970 he taught and was the director of the Sevastopol Children's Art School. In 1970 – 1975 was the Director of the M.P. Kroshitsky Sevastopol Art Museum. The artist’s works are represented in museums and private collections in Ukraine and abroad. Major works: illustrations for the M. Tevelev novel "Verkhovino, You Are Our Scroll" (1954); “Bokorashi” (1957); “Verkhovynsky landscape” (1960); "Winter. Statne” (1963) and others. He lived and worked in Sevastopol city. The artist died in 2002.
