A rare late-Imperial Russian porcelain ensemble executed in the chinoiserie / famille-verte taste, produced by the Gardner Porcelain Factory during the final decades of the Russian Empire.
The set comprises one large cabinet plate, one medium plate, two small plates, one covered sugar bowl, and one small teapot. Each piece is decorated with finely-painted floral scrolls, stylized lotus blossoms, and emblematic scholar's objects within shaped medallions, framed by a gilt Greek-key border.
This aesthetic reflects the Russian aristocratic fascination with Chinese decorative arts during the late 19th century and demonstrates Gardner's technical and artistic dialogue with exported Qing porcelain styles.
